JAMB & WAEC Personal Study Timetable Guide 2023

Studying and passing the JAMB or O’level examinations (WAEC or NECO) excellently requires some practical strategies.

One such approach is drafting a study timetable for the subjects you will take in any of these exams.

A personal study timetable is a reading plan that assigns different subjects to read each day of the week for a specific period.

The reason why I recommend students to have a study plan is for better organization. You do not want to wake up every morning and be weighed down by what you want to study for the day.

Even when you get to the university, you will find that a personal study timetable is necessary to achieve academic success, like graduating with a first-class degree.

The first part of this post will show you how to prepare your JAMB study schedule with samples. At the same time, the other section will be for the O’level exams (WAEC, NECO & GCE).

JAMB Study Timetable

You will sit for four (4) subjects at the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

The JAMB subject combination depends on the course you want to study at the higher institution.

As you already know, English Language is compulsory for every student sitting for the UTME exams.

The other three (3) subjects depend on the choice of course during your JAMB registration.

Now that we have a complete understanding of the JAMB subjects, now let’s talk about how you can draft out a personal JAMB study timetable.

Seven days a week with four (4) JAMB subjects to study. This already means you can read your two most challenging subjects twice a week.

It is advisable to start your week with complex subjects and end with revision or past question exercises.

Now let’s assume Bayo and Juliet are both sitting for the JAMB exam.

Juliet is applying to study Medical Laboratory Science, and Bayo is going for Mass Communication.

Now, it is time to draft the study timetable.

WAEC & NECO Study Timetable

A WAEC or NECO study timetable differs from the JAMB exam because you will take more than eight (8) subjects here.

If you are sitting for both exams, I advise you to align the subjects, so you don’t have to study different topics on the same day.

Assuming the following are the subjects you are preparing for your exams;

• English Language
• Physics
• Geography
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Government
• Economics
• Civic Education
• Mathematics
• Commerce
