Learn how to – Lenovo Thinkpad – Enable Touchpad Right-click on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I recently installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on my Lenovo Thinkpad  X1 Yoga Laptop. All other Desktop features are working fine except right-click on Touchpad. After some minutes of troubleshooting and Google searching, I learned that the issue was a Gnome setting that needed to be enabled.

To be able to enable Touchpad right-click on Ubuntu 18.04 running in Lenovo Thinkpad, you’ll need to install gnome-tweak-tool which is a tool used to Tweak and customize Gnome Desktop Environment.

$ sudo apt install gnome-tweak-tool

After the installation, Launch the tool from your Desktop Launcher or terminal.

From the terminal. you can start it by running

$ gnome-tweaks

Once launched, navigate to “Keyboard & Mouse”

Under “Mouse Click Emulation”, Select “Area”

Close Tweaks tool and you should have Right-click on your Lenovo Thinkpad laptop working.
