It’s possible you have come in contact with scammers or phishing online, and maybe you didn’t realise you were being scammed. So is everything where you have to provide your bank details a scam? Well, of course not, but the line between what is a scam and what is legit is getting blurry these days. Scams or conning is not something new. Look out for these payment “partners” or gateways 

When a website or web shop leads you to the payment page or checkout page, check for one of these payment gateways: Paypal, GooglePay, ApplePay, Visa , Mastercard, American Express, Klarna or Paysafecard. If a website or store features 2 or more of these payment options, you can enter your details without worry or thought of getting scammed. If a site only features the plain “Credit Card” payment method or just “bank transfer” you should probably stay away.

Even popular casinos feature secure payment methods so implementing them is not hard at all for the store or a website. The only thing the owner of the website has to deal with is a bit of transaction costs, but the payment method works smoothly and secure for the customer and the owner. Transaction costs the owner needs to pay on every transaction ranges from a few percent to 10%. Visa and Mastercard are the most popular payment options because they are one of the cheapest payment gateways that you can find as an owner of a store. 

Never click on links or text messages 

If you receive a text message from someone you know and trust, opening a link sent by them is no big deal. But, a random text message that states that you are able to receive compensation or have the right to claim money from the government are fake scam messages. Often these have a link attached to make you fill in your banking details to be able to “receive” your money. What would happen is they’ll just go running with your details.
