Step 1: Update System
Ensure you have the latest updates for Debian / Ubuntu / Linux Mint.
sudo apt -y update && sudo apt -y upgrade
Step 2: Install Node.js 17 on Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint
After system update, install Node.js 17 on Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint by first installing the required repository.
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_17.x | sudo bash -
Once the repository is added, you can begin the installation of Node.js 17 on Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint.
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
Use the following command to check installed version of Node.
$ node -v
v17.1.0
If you need Development tools, install them with the command:
sudo apt-get install gcc g++ make
The Yarn package manager can be installed by running the commands:
curl -sL https://dl.yarnpkg.com/debian/pubkey.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb https://dl.yarnpkg.com/debian/ stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/yarn.list
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install yarn
