Nasarawa State School of Nursing & Midwifery Lafia Form 2023

The Ministry of Health hereby announces the Commencement of Sales of Admission forms into the School of Basic Nursing, Lafia, for the Year 2022/2023 academic session from Thursday, 16th to 23rd June 2022.

The School of Basic Nursing, Lafia entrance examination is Saturday, 25th June 2022.

The school admits candidates to two different programs yearly.

The three (3) year basic nursing program, which starts in September, is meant for secondary school leavers, while the 3 Years basic nursing program commences in March and is also indicated for ECC. School leavers.

Application forms are advertised for and purchased at a prescribed fee.

Candidates who fulfill the nursing and midwifery council entry requirements are invited for an entrance examination and oral interview those who pass the entrance examination, which is organized and conducted by the MOH Department of Nursing.

Candidates who score the desired entry points from the assessments mentioned above are selected for admission into the program(s).

Application Procedures

  3. CREATE ACCOUNT with your details
  4. Click on the notification sent to your email
  5. Proceed to make Payment
  6. Click Generate Payment Code
  7. Print the Invoice generated and take it to any Bank for Payment
  8. Login into your Portal after payment
  9. Fill in your data and educational qualification to complete the application.
  10. Wait for a test invite via SMS and /or Open announcement

Registration Requirements

  • Birth certificate/declaration of age (original)
  • WAEC/NECO certificate (original)
  • Testimonial for six years (original)
  • Admission letter (original)
  • Indigenization certificate (original)
  • Photocopy of all credentials
  • Four passport photographs

Admission Procedures

The basic general nurse training is a general course open to young males and females of not less than 17 years of age at the time of admission (September)

Entry Qualification

Basic Nursing and Midwifery

Holders of WASC or its equivalent with at least five credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, at not more than two sittings.

WASC, G.C.E, or NECO results should not exceed ten years from the date of sitting for the examination

Others

Other entry requirements for admission include specific categories of persons authorized by the nursing & midwifery council of Nigeria to spend a specified length of time in an approved training school in Nigeria before registration (foreign graduate nurses).

Period of Intake

Intake into the basic nursing training program in September of every year and March for the basic Midwifery program.

The entrance examination is as follows; June for basic nursing and December for post-basic.
Successful candidates go through oral interviews at dates fixed by the right panel for this purpose.

Study Duration

  • For a basic nursing program, successful candidates undergo three years of training. The same with Basic Midwifery
  • Other categories are recommended by the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria.

Student Sponsorship

Students are self-sponsored, but state Indigene is given a monthly allowance to students in the basic nursing program.

The stipend will automatically cease after the release of the N&MCN professional examination results, after the student has stayed for three and half years in school for whatever reason, or if, for any reason, the student discontinues the program with the school.

Verification of Result

The school will verify all the results presented by students on admission, and any student found to possess forged, or unauthenticated results will be expelled.

Registration and School Fees

Registration of new students usually lasts a month from the day of resumption.

On the first registration day, students are expected to show evidence of payment of school fees as stipulated on the admission letter.

When collecting admission letters, students are made to sign an undertaking which will be placed in their files and present the originals of their credentials.

Students are expected to make other payments which include; uniforms, records of training booklet, examination and stationeries, handbook, harmonized code of ethics for nurses in Nigeria, etc.
No student will be registered without the full payment of fees.

Payment of school fees at a later date by students or sponsors will under no circumstances be entertained.

Students are strongly advised to receive all fees from their sponsors before the registration days expire, as defaulters will be ejected at the expiration of the last day of the exercise.

No student will be registered with any information different from the one they gained admission with unless substantial evidence has been forwarded to and approved by the principal.

All students are required to complete the forms given to them.

The approved training and hostel regulation forms must be thoroughly read and understood, and students must append their signatures indicating their acceptance of all the contents.

For each student, a compulsory medical fitness examination must be carried out in government-approved health institutions.

The result must be submitted to the school, and it must also come along with a medical fitness certificate and chest X-ray film.

An orientation program is organized in the 2nd week of the registration process. It lasts one week, and all students (new) are expected to attend compulsorily.

During the orientation exercise, the principal formally introduces the teaching staff and other key officers to the new students; for familiarization and offers advice to be on good behavior.

Note that subsequent payment of school fees is made during the training; basic student nurses in November annually.
