Install Visual Studio Code on Kali Linux

We will be using the official APT repository for the installation of Visual Studio Code on Kali Linux. Before adding the repository, update your system and install the package below.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install curl gpg gnupg2 software-properties-common apt-transport-https 

Import Microsoft GPG key to your Kali Linux:

curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | gpg --dearmor > microsoft.gpg
sudo install -o root -g root -m 644 microsoft.gpg /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/

Then add APT repository for VS Code to Kali Linux:

echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/vscode stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vscode.list

Finally install Visual Studio Code on Kali Linux:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install code
